StarCraft II Becomes Free to Play

It was announced that StarCraft II becomes free to play. Starting from November 14th, players will be able to experience story campaign, multiplayer and co-op missions for free.

Although StarCraft II goes free to play, in fact some content is still not free. Without paying for the game, players will be able to experience the following content:

  • Wings of Liberty story campaign
  • Ranked multiplayer ladder – to permanently unlock it, earn 10 First Wins of the Day in Unranked or Versus A.I.
  • Co-op missions – you’ll be able to level all current and upcoming co-op commanders up to level five. Raynor, Kerrigan and Artanis are completely free.

Players will still have to pay for the other content, such as Hearth of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void story campaigns, as well as Co-op commanders and announcers. StarCraft II was originally released in 2010 by Blizzard Entertainment. Over three million copies were sold worldwide in the first month.
