SL Invitational: the qualifiers for the first minor start today
We know surprisingly little about the upcoming Minor tournament StarLadder i-League Invitational Season 3, even though the qualifiers in some regions start today. We gathered bits of information about the first minor tournament of the season which is available at the moment.
The first ever Dota 2 Minor Tournament will be held in Kiev, Ukraine. The event is organized by Ukrainian StarLadder and Chinese i-League, and will take place on October 12-15 at Kiev CyberSport Arena. The prize pool is $300,000, and 8 teams will fight for their share of it. Out of 8 teams, 2 will receive direct invites and 6 will have to make it through the closed qualifiers in 6 regions: Europe, CIS, China, North America, South America, Southeast Asia.
While we still don’t know exact dates and most of participants of Europe, North America and China closed qualifiers, the other 3 regions are ready to start a fight for a chance to take part in the first Dota 2 Minor ever. The closed qualifiers in Southeast Asia, South America and CIS will take place on September 11-17. The qualifiers feature a double-elimination bracket, meaning that if a team loses it has a second chance in the loser’s bracket.
