PUBG’s September Uptade: new gun, foggy weather, and more

PUBG is going to move out of Early Access before the end of Q4 2017, meanwhile Bluehole Studio keeps patching the game. Recently they accounted details of the September patch, let’s take a look at the main changes of the upcoming update.

New gun

A new semi-automatic weapon called Mini-14 was added. The Mini-14 is a lightweight and compact sniper rifle, which uses 5.56 bullets and has lower damage but very high muzzle velocity and low bullet drop. You can attach any type of optic sight to the weapon, while both the muzzle and magazine slots use sniper rifle attachments.

Optimization

While the game runs more or less smoothly on newer PCs, optimization is always a never-ending process. In this update the developers updated shadows and buildings to lower their load on user’s hardware. Also, they optimized the User Interface, as well as client and server performance when there are multiple vehicles in vicinity.

World

The developers are working on improving the graphics: the foggy weather was added, which will occur from time to time and hinder player sight on the map. Also, the map is updated as well: a new town called Kameshki was added to the east of Stalber.

Weapon balance

Several weapon types were tuned a bit: the reload speed of Crossbow was increased by 35%, while Tommy gun has become a world spawn (previously it spawned in the Care Packages). Frag Grenades were buffed: the lethal and injury ranges were increased.

The update has a lot of improvements for UI, gameplay, animations and sounds, a lot of bugs were fixed. The full changelog can be found on the Steam page of the game. The patch will be released on the Live server later this week.
