PGL Open Bucharest minor: top teams to take part in the qualifiers
The new Dota 2 competitive season is packed as never before: there are 11 majors and 11 minors to be held in the 2017/2018 season. PGL Open Bucharest is the second minor tournament of the season, and it won’t be long until it starts. Recently PGL revealed most of the regional qualifiers participants, including some of the top teams of the world who are not used to take part in qualifiers.
PGL Open Bucharest will be held on October 19-22 in Bucharest, Romania. The prize pool is $300,000, which is a standard amount for minor tournaments this season ($150,000 is provided by the organizers, another $150,000 are funded by Valve).
With the announcement of the tournament, PGL invited two teams to take part in their tournament: Evil Geniuses and LGD Gaming. The other 6 participants are to be determined by the results of the regional qualifiers, which are held in 6 regions: Europe, CIS, Southeast Asia, North America, South America, China. This is just the start of a new season and one of the first tournaments after the post-TI shuffle, so many teams want to try out their new rosters. For example, for OG it is going to be their first qualifier in almost a year – previously they were always invited to top level events as multiple times major winners. After a disappointing performance at TI7 they replaced Ana with the famous Ukrainian player Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok, so they will have to try to find their game style once again. Another major motivating factor to take part in the tournament (except for a decent prize pool, of course) is to get Qualification Points towards The International 2018.
