LoL Worlds 2017: SK Telecom T1 are defeated by Samsung Galaxy
Three-time winners of League of Legends World Championship Series SK Telecom T1 lost to another prominent South Korean team Samsung Galaxy in the Grand Finals series with the 3-0 score.
The finals were played at Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium. SK Telecom T1 and Samsung Galaxy faced each other in a best-of-five series. To reach the grand finals, SK Telecom T1 defeated Misfits (3-2) in the quarterfinals and Royal Never Give Up (3-2) in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy had a much cleaner run – they outplayed Longzhu Gaming (3-0) and lost only one map to Team WE, finishing the semifinals match with the 3-1 score. Surpassingly for many, Samsung Galaxy managed to defeat the reigning world champion SK Telecom T1 with the confident score of 3-0.
This is the second champions title for Samsung Galaxy – the first one they acquired in 2014 by defeating Star Horn Royal Club. Samsung Galaxy will get 37.5% of the $4.6M+ prize pool.
