Call of Duty World League: Updated Format and $4.2m for CWL 2018 Season

Activision presented the updated format for the upcoming 2018 season of Call of Duty World League.

The upcoming season is going to have the biggest season prize pool – $4,200,000 – in the history of competitive Call of Duty. Besides that, the teams will battle to get the so-called CWL Pro Points, which are granted for participation in events throughout the year.

Below you can find all available information about the upcoming season and its divisions.

MLG GameBattles Ladders

MLG GameBattles Ladders is a platform in which players from North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific region can play to earn CWL Pro Points. The Ladder is open for players of any skill level, with the first win of the day granting 15 points, and any other following win granting 5 points. The maximum amount of points earned per day is capped at 35.

MLG GameBattles 2k Tournaments

MLG GameBattles 2K Tournaments are played online. Teams which seeds depend on the amount of earned Pro Points will compete in a single-elimination bracket for 2000 points. The first four MLG GameBattles 2K tournaments will be held on November 12, 19, 26 and December 3, 2017.

CWL Global Open Events

CWL Global Open events are a great opportunity to any player to get a chance to earn some cash prizes as well as Pro Points. The first CWL Global Open this season will be held at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas, Texas from December 8-10. Up to 160 teams will be able to take part in CWL Dallas Open: 16 of them will be directly invited (top 10 North American teams, top 5 European squads, and the best APAC team), the other teams will be placed in the open bracket depending on their number of points. In general there will be six Global Open events, including CWL New Orleans Open (January 12-14) and CWL Atlanta Open (March 9-11). The other tournaments of the season will be announced later in the season. The prize pool is set at $200,000 for each of the events.

CWL Pro League

CWL Pro League (previously named as CWL Global Pro League) received not only a new shortened name, but also updated format and schedule.

The CWL Pro League is divided into two stages, in which sixteen best teams from around the world will compete for a serious prize pool. Stage 1 will start on January 23, 2018 and continue until March 22, with the playoffs held on April 6. Sixteen participating teams will be divided into two divisions. Top four teams from each division will advance to the playoffs. Stage 2 has the same format and will be held from May 15 through July 19 with the playoffs on July 27. Each stage has a hefty prize pool set at $700,000.

CWL National Circuit

CWL National Circuit is a new level of the competitive CoD season. It is a lower level league for amateur teams, which goal is to grow competitive CoD community. CWL National Circuit features eight leagues which are based in the USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, France and Australia. Each league will have 8 teams that will battle for cash prizes as well as Pro Points – the winning team of each league will get 3000 points per player, $1,000, and a ticket to a major LAN event.

The 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship

The 2018 Call of Duty World League Championship will be the main event of the year and the end of the season. 32 best teams around the glove will fight for a share of $1,500,000 prize pool and champions title. More detailed information will be announced later.
